[Spoilers]

As the spooky season began, audiences were introduced to a variety of new shows and movies for this time of year. One of these being Marvel Studios show, “Agatha All Along.” This series premiered on Disney+ on September 18 and concluded on October 30. This show has nine episodes, each episode being about 40 minutes.

This series was a spin-off to one of Marvel’s most popular series, “WandaVision.” This series concluded in the battle between Wanda Maximoff and Agatha Harkness, where Wanda won. After Agatha’s defeat, Wanda’s punishment for her was to stay in Westview, New Jersey, under the illusion as the nosy neighbor in her community. In the first episode, Agatha works as a homicide detective, and in one of her cases, she ends up finding the body of a mysterious woman. As the investigation proceeds, viewers find out that it is the body of her past enemy, Wanda.

During the show, Agatha’s partner, Rio, forces her to claw her way out of this curse and return to her old and true self. When Agatha is finally back to who she once was, she realizes what has happened to herself and eventually gets attacked by Rio. After this encounter, we are introduced to the other protagonist in the show, who is known as Teen for a majority of the show. It isn’t until later episodes that it is revealed that he is actually Billy Maximoff,  the “dead” twin of Wanda, in the body of a boy by the name of “William Kaplan.”

Billy tells Agatha he wants to walk the witches’ road; if you made it to the end of this road, then you would have the possibility of gaining what you desire the most. Billy wants to obtain this certain power, however he learns that a group of witches (known as a coven) is needed to summon the road. Billy and Agatha head out to find their divination witch, who is a witch that seeks knowledge from the future or the past by supernatural means, Lilia Calderu, Jennifer Kale (a potions expert), and Alice Wu-Gulliver (a protection witch). Needing a green witch that represents the cycle of life, Agatha searches to find one, but ultimately fails because of who it truly was on their list. Instead, Agatha picks her neighbor, Mrs. Hart, but it isn’t until she dies after the first trial that Rio joins the other witches.

Throughout the show, the coven goes through trials on the witches’ road and discovers more about their peers and themselves. Each trial is based on one of the specialties of each of the witches, but they all have to work together in order to succeed and escape, or else they won’t escape the road, leading to their eminent end. Although not all the witches make it successfully off the road, their deaths were not in vain and were highly respected by many. However at the end, Jennifer regains her power after being bound by Agatha for over a century, Billy Maximoff tries to save his brother, Tommy, while Agatha accepts the loss of her son, Nicholas Scratch.

It is revealed that the original “Green Witch” (also known as Death) is a representation of the cycle of life, who is played by Rio. Billy and Agatha battle against Rio, since he needs to take one of them with him into the afterlife. Rio sees Billy as an abomination because he took another body and had a second life. Therefore after sympathizing with Agatha, she sacrifices herself and dies, but Billy has a glimpse of her after returning back home. After trying to banish her, Agatha and Billy come to a consensus and set off to find Billy’s brother, Tommy, leaving the audience on a cliffhanger.

It is finally revealed that Agatha’s son, Nicholas, was not sacrificed for the Darkhold, the spellbook of dark magic, but that he was destined to die at birth. However, Rio gave him extra time for life. Now, Agatha and all other characters are finally at peace, especially after what they went through.

Overall, “Agatha All Along” was a great conclusion to how “WandaVision” ended and excellently added to the story of who Agatha really is. Despite Agatha seeming to be rude to everyone and showing little kindness at all, she had a warm spot only for those who shared kindness to her. Billy and Agatha are now on a journey of their own in search of the other missing half of them. Fans now wait to see if the show will continue for another season on another new adventure of its own.
