Harvest Festival: Is it still a hit?

This year’s Harvest Festival that took place from October 25 to October 27, was a big success as always, but a lot of people were wary to ride the available rides at the festival. With many having past experiences of some rides have defaults in prior years, students who attended proceeded with caution as they made their way around the event.

Kyra Lau (10) thought that this year’s rides still felt a bit scary. Compared to 7th grade when she first went to the Harvest festival, Lau thought that the rides weren’t the best and they were, if anything, scarier to ride.

“On a certain ride, I didn’t feel safe at all because it was just one seat belt and the ride was held up by a bar so it felt more unsafe,” Lau said.

Ride safety was one thing, but many say that some of the prices were unreasonable. Joann Park (9) thought that the games, tickets, and foods were overpriced.

“For sixty dollars we could only ride about seven or ten rides which was pretty shocking to me because I didn’t know that they would have such high prices,” Park said.

On top of rides being unsafe and being overpriced, many felt that the festival was boring because they have been the same for years. Attendees also noted that there weren’t enough kid-friendly rides that both older and younger kids could enjoy together, making the festival not suitable for everyone.

“I think that [the rides] were boring because they were the same as usual and they only had their classic rides,” Lau said. “I also wish they had more [rides] that both younger and older kids could enjoy together.”

Despite prices and rides being too high and dangerous in some cases, students were still able to enjoy this annual event as the festival was a great place to go to with friends or family. Many students visited this year for all three days and rode the rides available.

“The prices have risen with the years but I understand because it is a fundraiser,” Isabella Le (12) said. “The harvest festival improved a lot from 2 years ago with better rides. The rides there were also really thrilling and the games were pretty fun too.”
