[Photo Essay] Ending the year in style
Ms. Susan Taja’s economics class is currently working on posters for different countries’ economic stances in the world. Students were required to include a flag and map of their country, as well as economic statistics and mini paragraphs about how economics have affected the country’s other issues.
As finals are drawing near, Mrs. Claudia Reynolds’ Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish 4 class recently did a project called “Deja Tu Huella,” which means “Leave your footprint,” a project about environmental advocacy on Ayala’s campus. Samantha Dougherty (12) is coloring a picture of a potted plant on a handmade flyer advocating for more environmental awareness.
Donovan Bucknor (9), Caleb Seong (9), Jordan Fletcher (9), and Emma Gandara (9) are working hard on their ‘La familia proyectos’ in Señora Jane Harmon’s Spanish 1 class. As the end of the semester approaches, Spanish students are making sure to put their effort into the smallest details.
Madelyn Araki (9) has been working hard on her project for Beginning Dance with Mrs. Christina Hofstetter. She partnered up with a friend and did a dance analysis in video format.
English 12 College Prep (CP) has taken a different approach to their end-of-the-year projects. The common project type this year is Lesson Plan projects, where students like Ryan Yee (12) teach the class about what they learned about the subject.
English 11 AP is doing a “Booktube” presentation project for finals. The presentations include background information on one of the two Active Independent Reading (AIR) books students are required to read, connections between the two books, and a recommendation. Roxana Kalantari (11) worked on this project.
English 10 Honors is doing a “Book Bento” final project. The items showcased in a “Book Bento” relate to the plot and themes of the book, “The Testaments” by Margaret Atwood in a meaningful and symbolic manner. Hannah Luu (10) worked on this project.
Kirra Allen (9) works on her Core Memory Project for Art. All students in art at Ayala have to draw out a core memory from their life in their own artistic perspective as their final project for the semester.
Coming to high school means taking a foreign language as a class and challenging one’s linguistic capabilities. Shrika Miriyala (9), part of Mrs. Jane Harmon’s Spanish 1 class, practices her presentation on her family.
Jeree Apan (10) presents her Book Bento for The “Inheritance Games,” displaying a variety of creative visuals and analysis to perfectly represent her AIR book.
Lucas Liu (10) showcases his Book Bento for “The Song of Achilles,” the end of the year English project for sophomores. In the Book Bento, students used their AIR book to create flat lay visuals with analytical explanations to represent key themes from their book.
Audris Yueh (11) works on the Enthalpy Change and Heat Transfer unit from AP Chemistry with Mrs. Lisa Garcia. As the semester comes to an end, AP Chemistry students study hard to raise their grades and finish the class well.
Eva Alcantara (11) showcases her AP Research presentation based on her topic: Standardized Testing in Private Versus Public Schools for the Stage 3 Poster project. Research students pick a problem each year to study and present their findings at the end of the semester.
