yung kai writes about the feeling of young, teenage love, which resembles the overall idea of “puppy love.” The show itself revolves around two high school students and the growth of their relationship, following the golden retriever and black cat trope. The vivid imagery creates moments that many people crave for in relationships.

Mitski herself said she wrote this song as a believer that love is an unlimited resource that nobody can take away from anyone, and that when she passes on, she hopes to leave her love with us. Although the song can be about a romantic relationship, Mitski wrote it to be about anything and anyone. This song can be about mother and child, friends, or even a single person.
