Mrs. Joy Rouchon, Integrated Math 3 Honors teacher, proudly displays the college where she gained her teaching credentials from. After attending two different colleges previously, gaining a bachelor’s degree in Math, she ultimately decided to obtain her Master’s degree at the private Christian school, Biola University.

Matthew Ullman is one of the many biology teachers at Ayala. He showcases his California State University of Fullerton keychain to represent his college. “I did almost go UC Irvine, but the extra commutes would’ve really impacted a lot free time, and ultimately would cost more money,” said Ullman.

Ms. Eileen Tse, the AP English 11 teacher, went to the University of California, Berkeley to get her undergraduate degree. She studied English and Asian Studies at the university.

Mrs. Christina Hofstetter attended college close to home at California State University, Fullerton. She was a dance major, kinesiology minor, and received a single-subject teaching credential in physical education.

Ms. Christina Kim, Integrated Math 2 Honors and Trigonomoetry/Pre-Calculus teacher, is always wearing her college attire on Mondays. This week, she decided to go with Yale University, already planning to wear UC Davis next week.

Mrs. Jessica Mensen, an English 9 teacher, attended Vanguard University to receive her bachelors in English then her masters in Education. Although a small university, it provided her with the education to be an exceptional teacher.

Ms. Susan Taja graduated from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for her undergraduate studies. Taja proudly hangs her UCLA banner along with her diploma in her classroom as she is now teaching Economics and American Government at Ayala.

Ms. Karen Rosa went to California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) for her bachelor’s degree in history. Now, she is teaching World History at Ayala, pursuing her major fully. She graduated CSUF at the age of 32, because life took her in many ways, but now she is proud to have attended the university that started her passion and career in history.

Ms. Katy Amirtash, the English 12 CP teacher, attended University of California, Riverside. “It was close to home and it had all of the classes I needed,” said Amirtash, describing what she chose to attend that college.

Mrs. Christy Koenig, the AVID and AP Psychology teacher, went to California State University, San Bernardino. “I liked that I had really good teachers and small class sizes,” said Koenig when describing what she liked about her college.
