Recently, Los Angeles’ two football teams, the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Los Angeles (L.A.) Galaxy, faced off their opponents in exciting matches that kept the audience at the edge of their seats throughout the entire games.

LAFC vs. Austin

On Saturday, March 15, LAFC lost their match with a final score of 0-1 against Austin. Due to the result of this match, LAFC has dropped to eighth place and has a record of 2-2. Austin has advanced to seventh place with the same record of 2-2. Since the teams are so close in rankings, this match could have gone both ways, but Austin managed to gain more of an edge and come out on top.

Throughout the whole game, LAFC looked better through statistics with having possession of the ball around 71% of the time and completing more passes with better accuracy. Austin was not significantly worse in statistics, proving to be the more aggressive team with more fouls and a total of five yellow cards. In most cases, the more aggressive takes the win due to their passion and overall fire on the field which proved to assist them in their win. Austin scored early on in the match, nearly before halftime, and since they were up all they had to do was maintain the defense which they excelled at.

LAFC’s next game will be Saturday, March 22 at 5:30 pm against Sporting Kansas City (KC) while Austin’s next game will be Sunday, March 23 against San Diego FC at 1:00 pm.

LA Galaxy vs. Portland

On Sunday, March 16, L.A. Galaxy tied their game against Portland with a final score of 1-1. L.A. Galaxy remains last in the league with a record of 0-1-3. Portland’s record is now 1-1-2, and they stand at twelfth in the league. Once again, these teams rank similarly so this match was anyone’s game.

Early on in the first half, no team came out and overshadowed the other, making it an even playing field. Overall, Galaxy had more shots on the Portland goal; however, they failed to land most of them on target. In the second half of the time, both teams brought up the intensity with Portland managing to score one goal putting them up 0-1. Towards the end of the match Galaxy came back and tied up the score 1-1. Since they scored almost right before the game was over, Portland had no chance of coming out on top and this resulted in a tie.

L.A. Galaxy’s next game will be on Saturday, March 22 against Minnesota at 1:30 pm. Portland’s next game will be on Saturday, March 22 against Colorado at 6:30 pm.
