Welcome back to another edition of Dear Bulldog! Like always, we chose two students from our form with unique stories to tell or who have asked deep open-ended questions, and we tried our very best to answer them. This week, we chose a relatable story that happens to everyone, thanks to Tina Cohen-Chang and Beautiful Hot Supreme Leader.

“Dear Bulldog,
i fell down the slope of the post office in front of my friend’s mom. it was very embarrassing and i stood up to walk back up the slope and then i slipped again
Sincerely,
Tina Cohen-Chang”
Dear Tina,
That’s an interesting story to share with an embarrassing moment in your life. There are many instances where someone can embarrass themselves, and it could happen anywhere, especially in the most unconventional times, especially if it’s in front of someone. Endless amounts of it, demoralizing or not. This memory of you slipping down a slope in front of someone, stuff like that happens all the time.
There are many people you can ask about their most embarrassing moments, and they would probably give you unthinkable answers that you would agree are just embarrassing as you slipping on the slope, or even worse. Everyone, probably in the entire world, has a fair share of embarrassing moments–even the people who you look up to, your friends, family, or anybody you could think of, has an embarrassing moment.
In fact, you might one day look back at it when you are a lot older (and wiser) and laugh back looking at it, because at the end of the day, it happened and it’s in the past. Although you may see it as embarrassing now, it’ll die down the more you mature. Especially throughout your high school years, there will be a lot of people doing embarrassing things sometimes.
As long as your friend’s mom is not that judgmental with your actions, and if it happened a long time ago, then there is a good chance that she would also say it’s fine too and comfort you, or have no recollection of what has happened.
But let’s admit it, it’s tough to not think about it sometimes, especially at times when you are feeling down. Such a terrible memory that still haunts you to this day, and I hope you can one day overcome it. Thank you for sharing your story with you.
Sincerely,
Bulldog

“Dear Bulldog,
I hate everything
Sincerely,
Beautiful Hot Supreme Leader”
Dear Beautiful Hot Supreme Leader,
There are a million reasons to feel like this and to think like this, but you should know that there are also a million reasons to choose love as opposed to hate. How you could possibly hear the birds chirping and see the trees billowing in the wind and look at that with such hatred is beyond me. However, I will make an effort to try and understand you. I will tell you about all the lovely things in life to remind you that there is still good out there, even if you hate everything right now.
There are people around you who care about you and want for you to do great. You might not even realize it, but you are noticed. And in your absence, everyone around you is affected by whether they are a stranger or not. Your existence was not happenstance, nor was it an accident. I personally believe in intelligent design, because it brings me peace of mind knowing that my life has been decided and dictated by a power higher than myself. Though you might not believe as I do, it is a universal truth that everyone in life has a purpose. Your purpose is yours alone, and no one can take that from you. Choosing to love that instead of choosing hate can be one step you can take towards bettering your life.
There are myriad ways you can find love in intangible things as well. It could be something as simple as complimenting someone, a friend or a stranger. It could be helping someone pick up their things that they dropped on the floor. You could try something new: read a book, watch a movie, learn to play an instrument, or join a sport. You might just surprise yourself with how these things will change your life, infinitesimally or substantially. The extent of the impact these things could have on your life will depend on you and how you implement them into your lifestyle. It is your choice in the end, and I truly hope you make the most of it.
