Los Angeles Kings vs. San Jose Sharks
On Sunday March 30, the Los Angeles Kings won their game against the San Jose Sharks with a final score of 8-1. As both of these teams are in the same conference and both compete within the Pacific Division, this game could have majorly shifted rankings. Due to their win, the Kings raise their record to 41-23 and they remain second in their division. The Sharks remain last in the same division and their record is now 20-44.
Going into this match, it was expected that the Kings would sweep the Sharks due to their wildly different rankings as they are close to being first whereas the Sharks have been steady in last place. As expected, the Kings came out strong and were scoring goal after goal against the Sharks’ defense. The Sharks were only able to score once on the Kings and by the end of the game, the final score was 8-1.
The Kings next game will be Thursday, April 3 against the Utah Hockey Club at 6:00. The Sharks next game will also be tomorrow on April 3 but it will be against the Edmonton Oilers at 7:30.
Anaheim Ducks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
On Sunday March 30, the Anaheim Ducks lost their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a final score of 2-3. As of now, the Maple Leafs are leading their division and are second in their conference with a record of 45-25. The Ducks on the other hand are 33-33 in their league and remain in sixth place. By looking at both teams statistics going into the match, one team clearly presides over the other but how the game was played did not reflect this.
Right off the bat, the Maple Leafs scored a goal and advanced to hold the lead throughout the first quarter. They soon scored another in the following quarter but the Ducks were able to hold their own and score a goal as well. Going into the third and final quarter, the Maple Leaves held the lead 1-2, but given the standings of this team it was expected they would hold a much larger lead. In the final quarter, the scores stayed about the same with each team scoring an additional goal, setting the score at 2-3 with the Maple Leafs barely taking the win.
The Ducks next game will be on Thursday, April 3 against the Calgary Flames at 6:30. The Maple Leafs next game will be on Saturday, April 5 against the Columbus Blue Jackets at 4:00.
