Since May of last year, swallows have invaded the farmlands of Chino. A protected species, swallows can build their nests outside of people’s homes, leaving trails of bird poop, mud, and of course their chirps. For some, this invasion has been a nuisance because of the mess these birds leave behind. However, others appreciate the beauty that comes with these birds and can excuse the mud nest outside their window. Nonetheless, these birds are just one of many species on this Earth, and on Earth Day, it is important to acknowledge that we share Earth with tons of other animals, no matter how small.

Every year, the city of Chino Hills holds an annual Water Conservation “Design-a-Sign” contest for all K-12 students. Students district wide send in hundreds of submissions, and the winning contestants are awarded with their posters posted around the city and rewards inside the City Hall. With this competition, it inputs water awareness in students’ brains. In the spirit of Earth Day, a city tradition like this is perfect for everyone.

Waterfalls are the small wonders in the environment that we can sense from their white noise and calming nature. This is the waterfall captured from the Fallingwater home, showcasing the top from the first-floor view.

In the Japanese garden at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), people can witness the serene view of the koi ponds and plants native to traditional Japanese gardens. As we approach Earth Day, we can enjoy the way that different cultures observe the natural environment.

The green hills of Carbon Canyon are a sign of the returning spring weather coming to Chino Hills. With months of rain and gloom comes the beautiful rolling green hills, lively trees, and miraculous views of our beloved city. This picture is an example of promoting living with nature and enjoying the Earth as we see it.

To preserve the greenery in Guangzhou, workers regularly care for the plants around historical buildings. While China is an incredibly industrialized country, nature is still a priority for the people.

Many overlook used items and tend to leave them on the curb or take them either to a thrift store or dumpster. Others take use of these discarded items and find a better purpose. While out on walks, an elderly woman scouts out these items left on people’s driveways and finds a better home for them in her backyard.

In hopes of protecting marine life at Laguna Beach, educational posters are widely displayed to visitors. Plastic items are the most commonly found items on the beach, which can also be the most dangerous for mammals due to them being a choking hazard.

Within our city, people and animals live together in beautiful and natural harmony. Cows roam the grassy hills of Carbon Canyon, eating away dying grass and promoting healthy grazing of cows and other animals. Chino Hills is a promoter of naturally clearing away fire hazards, whilst also tending to cows in a way that benefits the Earth.

As the sun sets on the California Coast, we are reminded of the beautiful features of our Earth. During Earth Day, we are reminded that in order to keep the Earth’s beautiful features, we must be mindful of the environment.

To celebrate Earth Day, AP Statistics teacher Mrs. Novy decorated her classroom door with a sunflower design constructed with key learning concepts, including z-scores, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals. It is a great way to showcase support in the classroom.

The fluffy cirrus clouds drift through the bright blue sky, painting a beautiful picture for those below. To keep the purity of the Earth, it’s important to remember that air pollution is still a standing threat to the world, and it must be prevented.

In the Philippines, nature is everywhere and in everything you see. In the simple areas with large forests and thriving plants, there are the little animals that make everything much more beautiful. Butterflies are a great example of such; the small feature adds so much life to the already lively forest.
