Earth Month shows secret beauties in the world

Earth Day is the perfect day to sit back and observe the world and its beauties from different perspectives. There is a unique feature that can go unnoticed easily, but it's still as beautiful as ever.

Since May of last year, swallows have invaded the farmlands of Chino. A protected species, swallows can build their nests outside of people’s homes, leaving trails of bird poop, mud, and of course their chirps. For some, this invasion has been a nuisance because of the mess these birds leave behind. However, others appreciate the beauty that comes with these birds and can excuse the mud nest outside their window. Nonetheless, these birds are just one of many species on this Earth, and on Earth Day, it is important to acknowledge that we share Earth with tons of other animals, no matter how small.

Every year, the city of Chino Hills holds an annual Water Conservation “Design-a-Sign” contest for all K-12 students. Students district wide send in hundreds of submissions, and the winning contestants are awarded with their posters posted around the city and rewards inside the City Hall. With this competition, it inputs water awareness in students’ brains. In the spirit of Earth Day, a city tradition like this is perfect for everyone.

While out on walks, an elderly woman scouts out these items left on people’s driveways and finds a better home for them in her backyard.

Cows roam the grassy hills of Carbon Canyon, eating away dying grass and promoting healthy grazing of cows and other animals. Chino Hills is a promoter of naturally clearing away fire hazards, whilst also tending to cows in a way that benefits the Earth.
