The Shoppes experienced a new surge of store openings, replacing some previously closed stores, starting at the beginning of the year.

Among them lies a major building near the entrance to the Shoppes, available for a large-scale retailing store. On August 15, the same building would introduce a new retail store in the Shoppes, being the popular Halloween store, “Spirit Halloween.” 

Spirit Halloween is a major seasonal retail store that specializes in Halloween costumes and decorations. With many valuables to offer, such as Halloween outfits that includes popular characters, to ‘animatronic’ decorations bigger than the average person, this brand established themselves as one of the most popular Halloween oriented retailers in America.

Previously, the only location of Spirit Halloween was located at Chino Hills Parkway, which unfortunately closed in 2024. Months later, there came the opening relocation of Spirit Halloween, just in time for the fall and upcoming Halloween season.

The brand new store replaced the now defunct Forever XXI, a clothing store notable for selling fast fashion that declared its Chapter 11 bankruptcy and officially started going out of business on March 17, 2025. 

Around early May, the former Forever XXI location finally closed its doors after holding a final discounted sale and remained closed for re-branding during summer break.

Although Spirit Halloween is one of the newer stores that opened in replacement of other stores, there are still many other spots for potentially new establishments to open. Stores such as Active and Windsor experienced closure earlier in the year, leaving room for new consumer shops.

As Spirit Halloween is one of the new arrivals to the Shoppes, students can only wonder what will be next to replace the closed down stores.
