An extraordinary game with high spirits and anticipation, both the Bulldogs and Huskies’ varsity football teams would go at it again during this month of October.
Ayala High School and Chino Hills High School would match up into the highly anticipated Battle for the Bone game at Chino Hills High School, with the Bulldogs already having won six previous times in a row, starting from 2017.
A majority of the first half was very close, with the score being tied at three, coming from scoring field goals from both teams. Both teams were closely matched with offense and defense, as the score would not move until the end of the first half, when the Huskies would then take the lead with 6-3 after a successful 27 yard field goal. The second half of the game would soon elevate to a new level.
The entire third quarter remained the same, except the Huskies would soon earn another successful field goal, putting them now up six against the Bulldogs. As the fourth quarter rolled around, that is when offense really amped up between both teams.
Chino Hills later got a 40 yard touchdown run during the 4th quarter, and another touchdown to put their score at 20. The Bulldogs retaliate, as they threw a long 49 yard touchdown pass, along with a successful field goal kick, where the bulldogs’ score advances to 10 points.
In the end, the Chino Hills Huskies would ultimately bring the bone home and won the game, all the while ending Ayala’s historic six year winning streak, with the final score of the game being 10-24.
The Bulldogs’ record now resides at a 2-4 record, as the Huskies currently have a 4-2 record going into this season. Ayala’s Varsity Football’s next game would be next Friday against Rancho Cucamonga in a road game.
