On Friday, February 7, girls Varsity water polo won their match 13-8 against Garden Grove. Ayala’s record is now 11-3 overall, and they are 4-0 in league. Garden Grove’s record is 21-10 overall, and they are 4-1 in their league. This game was the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Girls’ Water Polo Championship tournament. Which means that the winner of this match will advance to the quarter finals for a chance to play in the championship game.
This season has been a record-breaking year for Ayala and a CIF win would definitely be one for the charts. Going into this match, the energy on the Ayala side has been unmatched due to their ambition to make history. As both teams made it past the first round, they knew that this game would be even more challenging. Throughout the game, Ayala managed to stay on top scoring a total of 13 goals throughout all four quarters. However, Garden Grove was only able to score eight, meaning that Ayala would be the team to advance.
