From Wednesday, April 30, to Thursday, May 1, the End of Year Art Show was held in the library. The room displayed pieces from several of the different art courses available at our school. Not only was it an amazing experience for viewers to see all of the beautiful pieces made by students, it displayed all the hard work of dozens of student artists throughout the school year. The classes showcased in the show included Art Fundamentals, Graphic Design, Drawing & Painting, Advanced Placement [AP] Studio Art, AP 2D Design, Digital Imaging, Engineering, American Sign Language (ASL), Business Management, Spanish 2, AP Spanish, English, Chinese Club, Community Art, Community Science, and Psychology.
The variety of classes offered a great spectacle for all viewers to enjoy. All of the walls were filled with vibrant colors of digital drawings, posters, and scenic photography. As with all of the art, many students were given the same project yet their inspiration could vary. Some may have taken the route for their project to display their personality or others decided to do it on something they love.
“My inspiration for those [AP Art Pieces] was the process of death and how we express this departure as individuals,” America Perez (12) said. “Another large piece I decided to include was based off of gothic music and culture, that being a very large part of who I am.”
All of the pieces have a large part of their creators embedded into them. Therefore, having worked on all of these pieces for so long, many students have created countless memories within the classes their art has been created in. Including the memories created in class, the art show itself made a lasting impression on students.
“My favorite part of the art show was the red and white cutouts of the snake and flower inspired art,” Zyanya Izaguirre (12) said. “The display of walls could be found in the back corner, it was lonely but a real treat and I believe it was about someone’s culture and the details were beyond me but it literally blew my mind how such complex details can be cut out so smoothly.
Since many students had such an amazing time with both the art show itself and the creation of the pieces, others should participate as well. The art classes provided are both educational and allow you to release your inner creativity to create both beautiful and unique pieces. Through the arts program, countless memories can be created throughout the whole school year as well.
“I would most definitely recommend the art show and program to other students because I do think we should express ourselves,” Noah Banowetz (11) said. “It is also a very good and kind community as well.”
Now that the school year comes to a close, all of the art students look back on all of the amazing memories they have made. This year’s art show was a great success with countless amazing pieces created by amazing students. There are dozens of classes available for anyone to take that can feature your work in a future art show at Ayala. Your creativity should not be buried, express it by participating in one of the classes mentioned and create countless memories in the form of art.
