Softball in the Palomares league has been put on hold for roughly two weeks due to uncommon weather in Socal. But on April 5th, Ayala softball finally jumped back into the season with a home game against Colony. These two schools had played each other on the fourth at Colony and Ayala had taken the win, 7-0.

As Ayala took the field, the Bulldogs starter for the game was senior Allie Lukaszewicsz. As Colony came up to bat, Lukaszewicsz seemed to struggle in the first inning. With only one strikeout, Colony couldn’t seem to get her pitching down and popped up the other 2 outs. Once Ayala stepped up to the plate to face Colony’s starter, Aaliyah Garcia, senior Tehya Banks started off the game with a well-hit triple in right field. Ayala ended up scoring from an RBI by Beccera.

Lukaszewicsz found her groove in the second and had a one-two-three inning and got Ayala back in to continue their hitting streak. As the Bulldogs got to the bottom of their lineup, Garcia sat Ayala down with a one-two-three inning and left the game at 1-0 Ayala.

It wasn’t until the fourth inning when Colony got into some trouble as Garcia struggled to produce outs. With bases loaded for Ayala, junior Taylor Black got an RBI for Ayala, scoring 3 more runs. Alano came up and kept the RBIs going and brought in Black to make the score 5-0. Banks then hit a sac fly and scored Alano.

As the fifth inning rolled around, Ayala made a pitching change and brought in senior Karson Zavala. Zavala did not disappoint and produced 3 ground outs to shortstop and second base. During the fifth and sixth inning, Ayala scored 2 more runs. For Colony, they were able to score 1 run during the sixth. Zavala closed out the game in the seventh inning with the game ending score of 8-1.

For Ayala’s pitchers, Lukaszewicsz had 8 strikeouts and Zavala had 1 strikeout. For Colony, Garcia had two strikeouts. Colony’s record after the hard loss is 2-4 as Ayala stays undefeated with a 5-0 record in league play.
