On Thursday, December 5, girls Varsity won their game against Downey with a final score of 2-0, for their first win of the season. This sets Ayala’s overall record at 1-1, with Downey’s record is now 0-2. As this was the first win of the season for Ayala, it symbolizes what we can expect from this team in the future.
As the first half kicked off, Ayala rose to the lead, scoring one goal against Downey to put themselves in the lead. Through playing excellent defense, Downey was unable to score on Ayala throughout the half.
Throughout the second half, Ayala dominated the game getting nine shots on goal, while Downey only got two. However, Downey was able to block four of these shots and only one resulted in a goal. This set the final score of the game at 2-0, with Ayala taking the win.
Ayala’s next game will be today on Tuesday, December 10, against La Serna in the stadium at 3:15.
