Girls water polo finishes first in league

Girls water polo are league champions for the first time since 2006.

On Tuesday, January 28, girls Varsity water polo won their game against Bonita with a final score of 6-2. This game was huge for Ayala as if they won, they would be the first team to win the league championship since 2006. This team broke history and after 19 years, Ayala is the champion of the Palomares League. Ayala’s record is now 8-3 overall, and they are 4-0 in league. Bonita’s record is 5-10 overall, and they are 2-1 in league.

Ayala brought the intensity and energy to this match due to how much it meant to them as a team and for their history. Throughout the game, Ayala shone on both offense and defense. They were able to score six points on offense and only allowed two points on defense, making it an extremely competitive game.

Ayala’s next game will be on Wednesday, January 29 against Chino at 5:00. This game will also be Ayala’s senior night and the ceremony will commence around 4:40. This game was the last of Bonita’s regular season games.
