On Tuesday, February 4, girls varsity won their California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) match against Paloma Valley with a score of 13-6. This was the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Championship, and due to their win, Ayala will advance further in the tournament. Ayala’s record is now 9-3 overall and Paloma Valley’s record is 14-13.
After being the first girls water polo team since 2006 at Ayala to win the league, this team’s next goal would be to break another record and possibly win CIF. This game was the first step towards achieving that long awaited championship. Ayala locked down on defense and only allowed six goals as their offense was able to score 13 to win the game.
