On Friday, November 14, the F1-themed winter rally was hosted by our United Student Body (USB) and featured various performances, sports teams, and awards. Hosted by USB President Alina Lopez (12), Vice President Jadelyn Chen (12), and the Class of 2026’s President Kane Wukelich (12), the rally followed the journey of Lopez’s first F1 victory. The theme guided the overall atmosphere of the event. As students filled the gym, car-themed decorations and music helped transform the environment into a racing arena, building anticipation for one of the most spirited events of the winter season.
Under the guidance of Activities Director Mr. Randall Reams, this rally included audio enhancements, a projection screen, and a special visit from some of Diamond Bar High School’s Leadership students.
“I noticed that Diamond Bar students were invited to help with the rally. I think that was an interesting new element. I think communicating with local schools will help enhance our future rallies as well as theirs,” Kate Lee (10) said.

Winter sports Girls basketball, Boys basketball, Girls water polo, Girls soccer, Boys soccer, competitive cheer, and Boys wrestling took the stage, varsity athletes being recognized for their commitment to both academic and athletic excellence.
Class competitions, each featuring dance routines choreographed by dance teacher Mrs. Christina Hofstetter, were performed during breaks between sports recognitions. In addition to class-specific dances, the Ayala Dance Production team put on a special show.
“I love watching dance performances. I feel like they really spice up the rallies, and I look forward to them. I especially love the freshmen dances as it is so cute to watch a new group participate in school spirit,” Anna Chung (12) said.
Two games were hosted, the first one emulating an F1 atmosphere, inviting pairs of students from each class to race on toy cars. The senior class won by a close margin. The second game involved one representative from each class. Students were challenged to take off opponents’ wigs, crowning the last person standing with a wig on as the winner.
“I loved when they played the racing game, and they fell while trying to go fast, it was so funny,” Noah Kim (12) said.
Following the activities, Ayala’s Teachers of the Month—choir director Mr. Rober Davis, AP English 11 and English 10 Honors Mrs. Alexis Sjol, and Hofstetter—were celebrated on stage for their outstanding dedication to teaching.
The rally ended with the Bulldog Spellout Competition, where the sophomores won. Many students praised this rally, citing the improved technology and increased spirit. As students exited the gym, Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching” from the F1 movie played in the background.
“The rally was electrifying with lots of cheering and crowd participation,” Kim said.
