From the day your life begins, scent plays a crucial role in identifying who or what something is. As the brain develops, we associate certain scents with people or things, and this is a pivotal part of the body—one of the core senses. However, finding a signature scent for yourself can be a troublesome task. The task may come off as extremely complex; however, the task is actually not that daunting. Here are a few simple steps that may help you.

Be Unique

Each scent is unique, with a variety of notes that culminate into the scents known and loved. Online, there are always certain products that become the new rave that everyone must have to smell amazing. Although even if a scent is well enjoyed by a great amount of people, it does not have to be for you. For example, some less known fresh scented perfumes are Replica’s Sailing Day and philosophy’s amazing grace.  Going to your own locations to find certain products and finding a scent note that you enjoy the most is what marks the beginning of your scent journey.

Find Notes You Enjoy

Every body care product typically has a pleasing scent. Typically on the back of each product, there are a few notes listed that become the singular scent listed. By identifying the note, it captures who you are and what you enjoy the most, which can lead you to find more products that are similar. By finding this scent, it gives you a basis to find other products that are similar so they can be built up in a routine. With this routine, your products can be layered, allowing your aroma to become a permanent tradition.

Understand Layering

When you find a scent you enjoy, it is important to understand how to layer products containing the notes you enjoy. There is more to finding the scent, as you are trying to develop a permanent scent for yourself that is slightly more complex than a body wash and lotion. To put it simply, the best and most cost-efficient way to understand layering starts with an exfoliant, body wash, lotion, and a body mist. Some perfumes that layer really well together are ZARA’s ROSE GOURMAND and OUAI’s North Bondi to create a great floral scent. To put it with these products, you want to find the scents that highlight the notes you enjoy that can also be brought out with a simple routine.

Be Consistent

Once you create a routine with a simple number of products, you are capable of creating a scent for yourself. In order for this scent to be present daily on your body, it is important to keep up with your routine. By doing so, it allows your body to absorb the scents in each product and bring out the prominent layered scents, allowing them to be smelled daily. Through consistency, the scent is less likely to fade quickly. Especially with perfumes that are long-lasting throughout the day, there are Snif’s Vanilla Vice,  Replica’s Afternoon Delight, NEST’s Vanilla Bourbon, as when these layers come together and are worn constantly, it creates a warm vanilla scent.

Through finding particular scents, understanding layering, and staying consistent, the task of finding a signature scent is not as difficult. These few tips are a great basis to help you create that signature scent that everyone desires to create for themselves, allowing your presence to light up a room once you arrive.
