The entrance whistle of your Disney band, butter and cinnamon permeating Main Street, the swarm of balloons, and being inundated with character meets and parades are all universal when it comes to the ultimate Disney experience. Lately, Disney has been celebrating their 70th Anniversary with engaging itineraries such as parades, decorations, apparel, and concessions. Disney itself is a wonder; features like these are what keep the people coming. Here is how Disney celebrates their 70th birthday to the fullest, because after all, you’re only seventy once!

As you begin your itinerary, you unwrinkle the provided map of the park and realize you’re going to need some help deciphering all of this. Fortunately, Disney offers a “A Story of Celebration” tour, where guests can indulge in the history of the park as they embark on seven decades of happiness. Now, after your tour, you are going to be parched. While exploring, you might as well get yourself some themed foods that they have to offer.

In fact, Disney is well known for their delectable treats, and even now, Disney California Adventure is celebrating their Taste of California festival. Specifically for their 70th, they offer their “70th stuff,” which is white chocolate mousse perched on top of a shortbread cookie, and the 70th Celebration Macaron, which is stuffed with vanilla bean buttercream, strawberry jam, and strawberries.

“I loved how all the bushes and plants were decorated for the 70th anniversary. They also had special churros laced with ube, blue raspberries, and sprinkles,” Leilani Jun (11) said.

Now, for the longest time, the colors red and black have characterized Disney. But in spirit for the anniversary, the colors are now pink, yellow, and blue. Disney tends to have the effect where, everywhere you go, you see reminders of the park, another reminder of how lively they keep things there. To carry on this liveliness, you can simultaneously indulge in the music of the Jonas Brothers. If you listen closely, you can hear their music in their new parades, including a song curated by the Jonas Brothers, called “Celebrate Happy.”

“I loved the decorations. Everything was colorful and cheerful. It made everything seem even more alive and festive,” Alina Mojia (11) said.

In terms of apparel, Disney offers their iconic ears in many forms, whether you’re simple and chic. Simple designs include just the classic solid color, whereas these “chic” headbands are often decorated with bejeweled and embroidered pieces. They also provide their themed jerseys and Loungefly backpacks that guests can get to become children in a candy store, as they are overwhelmed by the creativity of these designs. Such apparel allows them to feel like they belong and not miss out on the ultimate Disney experience. It is even known that the esplanade, dividing Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, contains a 50-foot castle structure that functions as a photo opportunity.

“What I appreciated about my visit was being with my friends and taking photos with them. I also appreciate the food a lot, especially the raspberry macarons and the beignets from Downtown Disney,” Alondra Aparicio (9) said.

The next time you plan your Disney visit, keep in mind that this event is one not to miss, due to its everlasting culture and ability to make memories with nostalgia simultaneously. Keep in mind that this celebration will go on until August 9, so savor the moment while you still can.

“When I visited for my ASL trip, the interpreters were most fascinating. They were lively and engaged with so much energy. You can tell they wanted to be there, and that made all the difference,” Mojica said.
