There is a very large group of people in the world that enjoy watching animated shows, but there is a specific group of people that enjoy watching the subgenre, called anime. Anime is a type of animated series that hails from Japan.
Anime has a lot of fans and general watchers that always tune in to the new seasons and episodes gladly, but this obsession has to come from something or someone. For different people there are different triggers and aspects of anime that interests them.
“I like anime, because it’s something I really enjoy watching and it’s a great pastime,” sophomore Ria Pujara said. “I love engaging in conversations with other people about certain episodes and seasons of anime. I also love the fact that people of all ages can have a liking for anime.”
If you enjoy more action and supernatural based shows, then you might be interested in watching Chainsaw Man coming out in April of 2022, which is about a man who is brought back to life by making a deal with the devil which gives him the ability to become a Devil with chainsaws as hands.
Another action and supernatural based show that you might enjoy is the newest season of Devil’s a Part Timer. This show deals with the Devil himself getting tricked, and ending up in Tokyo where he has to flip burgers to make ends meet.
“I’m most excited for Devil’s a Part Timer Season 2,” sophomore Daniel Aksoy said. “[It] was one of the first anime I’ve ever watched and it left an impression on me. It’s a pretty good slice of life mixed with demons and action. Even if some people call it mediocre, I still enjoyed it and Season 2 looks exciting.”
Even if you aren’t into watching the supernatural and action-based shows, there are still shows for you to watch. One very popular show that many people enjoy watching is Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! This show centers around Kazuma Satou, a young boy that passes away and is sent to a fantasy world, where he goes on many adventures with a goddess, a crusader, and an archwizard.
“I am most excited for Konosuba Season 3 because Konosuba was the anime that got me to watch anime again after a five year break of losing the internet in anime,” sophomore Preston Tsai said.
Overall, anime is a great way to pass the time as well as a great way to find and make new friends.
