On Monday, the Ayala Bulldogs took on the Colony Titans. The Bulldogs had a 10-3 record prior to the game, while the Titans had a 5-5 record, giving Ayala the upper hand going into this match. Ultimately, the Ayala Bulldogs took the victory in high-scoring fashion, winning over the Colony Titans 17-1
In the top of the first inning, Colony came out of the gate swinging, putting a run up on the board and making the score 1-0 off the bat. The Ayala Bulldogs fought back, scoring three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. This put the score at 3-1 in Ayala’s favor at the end of the first.
In the second inning, both teams’ defenses were on alert. Neither team got any runs past the plate in their respective halves, keeping the score at 3-1 going into the third. Ayala remained in the lead.
In the top of the third inning, the Titans were once again kept to their single run, as the Bulldogs’ defense and pitching prevented any further runs. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Ayala scored two runs of their own, putting the score at 5-1 in the Bulldogs’ favor going into the final inning of the game.
In the fourth and final inning, Colony scored no runs. The Ayala Bulldogs, on the contrary, picked up the pace, and put up 12 total runs in just the bottom half of the inning. This secured them the victory with a final score of 17-1.
Ayala’s McKenzy Becerra (11) had an impressive performance at the plate in her four appearances, scoring three runs off of three hits, four RBIs, a double, and a triple. Junior Jordyn Balingit also contributed to the high score on the Bulldogs’ side, batting in three runs with her double. Pitching for the entirety of this game was junior Allie Lukaszewicsz, who struck out 9 out of 14 batters faced.
