Project Blush is more than just a typical high school club. Set to launch at Ayala High School, its mission is to support those in need by providing essential hygiene and cosmetic products. Their core mission is simple yet impactful: to help less fortunate individuals feel confident in their own skin. This goes beyond merely providing products—it’s about inspiring students and promoting the idea of self-worth.
“We hope to help people feel good about how they present themselves,” said Vice President Emily Hsieh (10). “Everyone deserves to feel confident, and sometimes all it takes is having access to basic hygiene items.”
The vision of Project Blush stretches beyond distributing products. The club’s officers want to inspire the idea that self-worth and confidence can start with the small, daily rituals of self-care. Whether it’s applying lotion or using skincare products, the club is driven by the belief that personal care is closely tied to confidence. These small actions can help boost people’s self esteem.
Project Blush plans to distribute these items to people in homeless shelters or families struggling to afford hygiene essentials, and they are already brainstorming creative ways to raise these funds, including organizing events like food truck fundraisers and Halloween-themed activities.
While the club is still in its early stages, the officer team is focused on spreading awareness and recruiting members who share their passion for helping others. Social media campaigns, school announcements, and simple word-of-mouth will all play a role in promoting the club.
“Our first steps are recruiting active and supportive members who are passionate about the mission,” Chen said.
Self-care is more than just a routine—it’s a way to create a sense of self-confidence, and the leaders of Project Blush understand how important this can be. For club historian Jeree Apan (10), hygiene has always been a significant part of her life.
“My mom always taught me the importance of hygiene, and it helped me feel more confident, especially with my skin,” Apan said. “Personal care isn’t just vanity. It’s something that can change how you see yourself. I’ve seen it make a difference in my own life, and I want others to feel the same.”
Apan’s story shows a key part of Project Blush’s mission: helping people feel like the best version of themselves. Whether it’s washing their hands, brushing their teeth, or caring for their skin, Project Blush believes that self-care can change how people view themselves—and that it’s a right, not a luxury.
“I hope we can promote regular hygiene practices and give people the opportunity to feel like the best version of themselves,” Apan said.
As Project Blush prepares for its official launch, the officer team has laid out a clear vision for the future. Their immediate goals are focused on raising awareness and recruiting members who are passionate about the cause.
Chen sees the first few months as an opportunity to build a strong foundation for the club.
“Our goals are to recruit as many members as possible and raise awareness about our club’s presence and activities,” Chen explained. “We’ll be promoting the club both within the school and on social media to attract potential members.”
Project Blush is set to make a lasting difference both within Ayala High School and in its surrounding community. As the club prepares up for its first events and fundraisers, the club officers are excited to see their vision come to life.
“It’s about creating opportunities for everyone to take care of themselves, no matter their situation,” said Chen.
With clear goals, a dedicated leadership team, and a strong sense of purpose, Project Blush is ready to make a lasting impact, one donation at a time.
