On September 10, girls Varsity flag football won their game against the Claremont Wolfpack with a final score of 25-18. This sets Ayala’s record at 10-2 overall, and 1-0 in the league. Claremont’s record is now 0-1 overall and in league. This was Claremont’s first game of the season, and both teams first game in league history.
As the first half began, Claremont quickly rose to the lead scoring one touchdown, but missing the extra point. Ayala came back and made a touchdown, but again missed the extra point, setting the score at 6-6. After this, Claremont went on to score two more touchdowns, but once again missed both of the extra points. By the end of the half, Ayala was unable to score any more touchdowns, setting the halftime score at 18-6.
In the second half, Ayala came back from the loss and scored two more touchdowns, tying the game at 18-18. However, Ayala was able to score the extra point, setting the score at 19-19, barely taking the lead. They went on to score one more touchdown, securing the win with a final score of 25-18.
Ayala’s next game will be an away game against Magnolia High School.
