With the announce of a “Five Night’s at Freddy’s” movie, many fans of the cult-classic game series are curious as to what exactly the new movie will entail, as well as what story line the movie will follow.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a survival-horror game made by Scott Cawthon which was released on August 8, 2014 and is based in a Pizzeria haunted by ghost children that take the form as the animal animatronics by the ghost puppet The Marionette. The player serves the role of the security guard that has to spend five nights making sure nothing goes wrong, watching the security cameras to make sure Freddy (or any other animatronics) doesn’t cause chaos until 6 AM.

The games lore is connected to various characters (dead and alive), security guards, murderous serial killers and vengeful animatronics such as; Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Golden Freddy. These are only the few main animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy’s who have been murdered. Now, Scott Cawthon has made this a dream come true for players releasing the movie this October 27, 2023 in collaboration with Blumhouse productions and talented actors.

With the film now officially in production, many fans are dissecting what the plot will be based around as there are currently 9 games within the franchise that are all seemingly interlinked, however, each game is very unique in its own way as each of them are rich with lore. Due to the context clues with familiar characters such as Mike Schmidt, who will be portrayed by Josh Hutcherson, we can assume that this will be solely based around the first entry in the series since this character was the first known security guard who unfortunately had taken up the job to guard Freddy’s Pizzeria for the week.

William Afton, who is the main antagonist who murdered all the children who are now Animatronics haunting the Pizzaria. Matthew Lillard will be making his own appearance who will be portrayed none other by Matthew Lillard known for his roles in SLC Punk, Serial Mom, and Scream (1996). With Lillard taking on the role of this iconic antagonist many fans are excited to see what he will deliver to this character and if he can do William Afton the justice he deserves.

Elizabeth Lail will be starring as Vanessa (antagonist) from Security Breach. Vanessa is the antagonist in Security Breach, who was the bunny who tried to kill Gregory who is the game’s protagonist.

Piper Rubio joins the cast as Abby Schmidt who is presumably Mike Schmidt’s younger sister according to reddit sources. Though Abby is not a previously established character in the video game franchise,  new addition to the cast of characters and we can only assume that she might be the same character from then Fazbear Fright Series where she appeared in Fazbear Frights #1 – To Be Beautiful’ where she is known as “Abigail”. Though these two characters may not be the same we can only assume that this might not be a coincidence that the film version of Abby will be based on Abigail from the book series.

This movie has been a concept for nearly two years dating back to 2021 and delayed multiple times due to script changes but now in February 2023, principal photography and production has officially begun with Blumhouse production releasing a first look image on April 6th 2023, two months later. Fans are excited for this movie and the new plot Scott Cawthon will give to his fans.
