Ayala Basketball, as of December 15, has started with an impressive 10-2 record, which they only look to build on as the league begins soon. The Bulldogs won their first seven games of the season until they lost a hard-fought game to their rival school, Chino Hills. Besides that, the team has put together a solid season and hopes to only get stronger as the season goes on. The team holds six seniors, including captain Joshua Townsell, who is happy with what the team has accomplished thus far.
“I am proud that we have been able to pull together as a unit, which has led to our good start,” senior captain Joshua Townsell said.
Both losses so far on the season came with their own mistakes that the Bulldogs look to key on and fix as the league will begin Friday, December 19 against the Glendora Tartans. The team plays in the Palomares League with other schools such as the Bonita Bearcats, Diamond Bar Brahmas, Claremont Wolfpack, and the Walnut Mustangs.
Last season, the Bulldogs finished with a 18-12 record overall and a 3-3 record in league, going to the second round as well of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), before their season would end against the Price Knights.
Even with as a good of a start the Bulldogs have, they believe their full potential has yet to be reached as well.
“We still have a lot to improve on and despite this we have still had a good start, showing how good we can be,” Townsell said.
Fellow senior Isaiah Dolloso also had his own beliefs on the season so far.
“When we play to the ability we are capable of being, we are a very strong and competitive team,” Dolloso said.
