On Wednesday, February 11, the Ayala Boys soccer team faced off against the Banning Broncos in the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Division II playoffs.
The Bulldogs came into the match red hot, already previously having secured first place in the Palomares League and having not lost a game since December. However, the Banning Broncos have also played well, winning four out of their last five games heading into the contest and a first-place finish in the Sun Valley League.
However, the Bulldogs were able to keep the streak rolling, securing a 3-0 victory, with goals from Daniel Partida (12) and Max Sumner (11). They will be moving on to the second round, in which they will face the Bishop Amat Lancers. The game will be on Friday, February 13, at Ayala’s field, and the Bulldogs are hopeful to keep the season rolling.
