Following the recent 2024 Executive Board elections, David Kubeldis (10) now tackles the role of Speaker of the House following Zachary Chang’s (11) term.

As the newly elected Executive Board (E-board) enters into office, the previous board provides them with support and guidance for this transitory period.

Being the new Speaker of the House, David Kubeldis (10) is in charge of all announcements which includes K9 news, intercom announcements, and newsletters.

“Being speaker of the house is actually a very time consuming job. It involves me filming K9 news videos and also editing them myself,” former Speaker of the House Zachary Chang (11) said. “[I] also have to create these newsletters for Tuesday and Thursday announcements.”

This year, Kubeldis hopes to further connect with students through the announcements.

“My goals for this term are to actually really captivate the minds of the students,” Kubeldis said. “I just want to engage everyone and give interesting announcements.”

Kubeldis plans to bring more student engagement mostly through K9 news which he will not only film, but edit as well.

“I’ll just try to make the K9 news more relatable and make new, innovative ideas,” Kubeldis said.

Kubeldis ran for Speaker of the House after being inspired by the previous Speaker of the House, Zachary Chang, and his K9 news videos.

“I thought the [Speaker of the House] position, [in terms of] making the news videos would be really interesting,” Kubeldis said. “Also, I think [the previous speaker was] pretty cool and he’s pretty funny.”

As Chang’s term as Speaker of the House comes to an end, and preparations for his new position as president begins, he offers Kubeldis valuable advice that he learned from his own term.

“You’re always going to have haters and you’re always going to have people who like you especially when it comes to K9 news videos,” Chang said. “So you just gotta deal with them.”

Aside from the challenges the position entails, the role of the Speaker of the House also allows the student to connect more with the student body.

“I sometimes get to interact with people through my games,” Chang said. “Also, the House of Reps was actually really amazing as well because I get to listen to the input from the student body and actually try to bring them up to the USB class and admin.”

With the new executive board entering into office, students can look forward to a more united campus.

“I’m really excited to connect with the community of the Ayala students,” said Kubeldis.
