[Valentine’s Writing Comp ’24] How Dare You?

First place winner
%5BValentines+Writing+Comp+24%5D+How+Dare+You%3F
Roxy Kalantari

I think it’s the way you walk through the door,
or maybe it’s that ridiculous smile of yours
Actually maybe it’s the way you make me laugh
and stupidly tease on my behalf

No wait, I think it’s how my name sits in your mouth,
despite the many times I told you to take it out
That really makes me question your audacity,
because how dare you actually?

What makes you think you have the right
to make me feel like the only girl in sight
Because even if you were the last boy on earth
Would our story be of any worth?

Truthfully you confuse me, you confuse me a lot
because of all the people out there (precisely eight billion the last time I checked)
you decided that I was the one person worth a shot
How dare you?

About the Contributors
Dania Nasreldeen
Dania Nasreldeen, Club Member
Dania Nasreldeen (10) is a returning student staff member who is excited to bust out her writing expertise to provide quality articles for the Ayala student body. She is an avid thespian involved with the Ayala Theatre Company as the spotlight operator. In her free time, she volunteers at the James S. Thalman library and runs her Ayala club as the President and founder of Cards Club. Some interests include singing, writing, playing Genshin Impact and most importantly, watching shows and movies. Anime, Asian Dramas, and Netflix/Disney+ shows and movies take a significant portion of her time. Although these are just some of her favorite genres, she is also involved in almost anything cinematic.

Roxy Kalantari, Staff Member
Roxy Kalantari (10) is a staff reporter for The Bulldog Times, and this is her first year on staff. Roxy hopes to write news and spread awareness for situations happening on campus. She's been writing since she was in the fourth grade and she looks forward to making friends with her editors and (hopefully) some of the people that she interviews. In addition to being a writer in journalism, she hopes to be an author one day-- or a veterinarian and help animals. In her free time, she enjoys binging The Office and Gilmore Girls and she loves listening to music.
